Lest We Forget...A New Poem.

Forever a Memory.

Sat next to you,
One day we asked.
What ever happened,
In years that past.
Younger we were,
With a curious mind.
Wanting to know,
Not meaning to remind.
Silently you spoke,
Of horrors only you.
Were forced to see,
And witnessed by few.
A sea of blood,
Is what you said.
Head bent down,
Many lives were shed.
Men you once knew,
Giving their life.
All leaving home,
Some leaving a wife.
You fought for us,
And came back here.
Grandad we'll remember,
You're forever near.
